Jim has almost 20 years of experience in CFO roles in manufacturing and social care as well as in property and specialist supported housing. He has managed interfaces with regulator, investor and operational stakeholders and has specialist expertise in raising equity and debt finance in both listed and private equity backed businesses.
In his previous two roles he has overseen successful shareholder exits, one involving a de-listing from AIM as part of a sale to a trade buyer and in the other playing a leading role in the sale of a private equity portfolio business to a number of trade buyers. He has led on numerous acquisitions and subsequent business integration programmes and has built finance teams developing them through growth and transition.
Jim trained with KPMG and qualified as a chartered accountant in 1995 after which he progressed through financial controller and other senior finance roles in a number of businesses.
Jim played a leading role as CFO at Straight plc taking it from its IPO on AIM in 2003 to a successful sale to a trade buyer in 2014. During this period he guided its transformation from a distributor of third party owned products to a vertically integrated manufacturer of a market leading proprietary product range it had developed.
After the sale of Straight plc Jim joined Ark Home Healthcare, a private equity owned provider of domiciliary healthcare services which was significantly loss making when he joined. Jim played a leading role as CFO in the turn-around of the company through the acquisition and integration of a competitor into the eighth largest provider in its sector. He facilitated a successful exit for Ark’s owners in 2018.
Jim is CFO of FourSynergy and is responsible for the financial management of the group as well as playing a key role in shaping and supporting its growth strategy.
